Paul and I have had a very busy month preparing Studio 99 in Elliott Road. We have welcomed Students to an Open Day, where we served coffee and cake and showed around those students who will be attending this Autumn Term. There were a few hiccups with finding us – many people missed out the Elliott Road part of our address – but everyone was impressed by the space and light in the new place – as well as the wonderful views.
Paul and I were touched by the cards and gifts which people brought. We now have lots of plants, bringing some greenery into the Studio, including an orchid and a cyclamen which are scaring me a little – I’ve never looked after these before! This collection of plants will be also be very useful for still life studies. One of them is called Emma.
Over the next few weeks we will be moving everything out of Paul’s studio on the Barbican and setting up his painting space at Studio 99. I think he is really looking forward to painting in such a bright situation.
We are continuing to improve the premises – Paul has attached a new handrail to help haul ourselves up the stairs! Also a new intercom system has been installed so we can open the door from upstairs to callers. New window panes have been ordered to replace the faulty ones.
We are also beginning to plan our opening exhibition day! We want to send out as many invitations as possible. We shall be supporting St Luke’s Hospice who we have supported for many years. Keep a look out for the announcement of the date!
